EXO, Quebec's public transit agency, is responsible for operating commuter train lines throughout the Greater Montreal area.

With passenger cars built in China, new types of seats had to be manufactured to meet North American standards for reliability and safety (APTA, American Public Transportation Association). The seats had to be reduced in size from the old versions and then various changes had to be made, mainly in the choice of colors and vinyl, to adapt them to the new EXO brand image.

Mandate

After having produced the seats for the EXO 3000 version in 2009-2010, Khrome was once again entrusted with the responsibility of designing, manufacturing and delivering, on short notice, the order for 9 new types of passenger seats.

Turnkey Project

The team carried out an ergonomic study of the seats’ geometry to ensure their comfort in the sitting position.

Thanks to our team’s industrial design skills, Khrome has met the most demanding requirements of the traditional design cycles (PDR, FDR, test, and FAI).

With several solutions adapted to EXO's personalized needs, Khrome met the objective of manufacturing and delivering the custom seats in a record time of only one year! With a concern for reliability and durability in manufacturing, Khrome has satisfied, once again, the requirements of comfort, aesthetics, and finish of the seats.
